I haven't blogged in a while and I wanted to write about something different other than New Year's Resolutions. Don't worry, I will be blogging about those soon.
When Mike and I were first looking at houses, it took us a while to narrow down where we wanted to live. During that time, my grandmother's old house was up for sale again. The house had been sold way before that. It was located in Old Brooklyn and the place had been totally remodeled. The pictures were amazing. The neighborhood isn't bad. It definitely wasn't what it used to be, but nonetheless it could be a possibility. I really wanted to go look at it. The thought of seeing it after so many years was fascinating to me. I wondered if it still had the same smell or had anything that reminded me of grandma. Months passed by and we were still trying to figure out where we wanted to live. Eventually, my grandma's old house had been sold. I never got to see it. It made me kind of sad, but I knew that the house wouldn't be a good fit for us. We wanted something with a little more space.
Then one night I had the weirdest dream. Often enough, I do have dreams that take place at grandma's house. Well, this one was a little different. I was in her living room and she was sitting in her usual chair. The house was just like it was when she lived there. The hamburger brown carpet, the old tv stand, the ship on the mantle, etc. In this dream though, my grandma was talking to me. She told me, "Desi, you don't have to buy my house. I'm not there anymore. I'm wherever you want me to be." This dream was so unbelieveably real. I woke up and I remembered it so well. From then on, it never bothered me again that I didn't buy her old house.
When we finally did move to Cleveland Heights, it turned out that I would be living very close to my sister-in-law Kathy. I hadn't seen Kathy since way before her and Paul's divorce. We had begun talking again in the past year or so. She said she lived really close to me and would love to stop by. So she stopped by with her cute daugther Kayla. She brought me a housewarming gift even though I told her I didn't need anything. It was one of my grandma's plants. Kathy explained how in all these years this plant has never died. She said it was a hardy, old plant just like grandma. I couldn't help but laugh because she was right. To this day, it's the best housewarming gift I ever received.
I keep the plant in the kitchen window so it can get tons of sunlight. It's going through a period of re-growth.
I have plenty of things from grandma yet. I have the ship off her mantle, one of her green ducks, and I still have one of her green pullover coats that she insisted I take. This plant means so much though. It's a living piece of grandma. I can't thank Kathy enough for giving this to me.

Christmas
I hope everyone had a nice holiday. Ours was pretty good. We stayed up late on 12/23 to get presents wrapped. On Christmas Eve we stopped at Mike's grandma's house. Then we went to Unity for their Christmas Eve service. The church was decorated beautifully as usual. There's no Christmas Eve service like Unity's. Trust me, I've been to tons of Christmas Eve church services, nothing compares to Unity's.
Then off to my parents house to exchange gifts. Cheyenne loved her new doggie sweater and treats. I got my Mom a digital camera. My dad got a new Tracfone - he can get rid of his ancient cell phone. I got Mike Apples to Apples so we ended up playing that until late Christmas Eve. Christmas Day was nice. No particular place to be. Mike got me remote start for my car, which is going to help me a lot! Mike and I went to his parents house. We got to see Grandma again too. Mike's parents bought us some great stuff. They are so generous. It was a nice quiet Christmas. We drove home and then we made our Tofurky for dinner. It was a delicious dinner.
I'll add some pics soon!

Christmas Break!
I am so relieved to be on break! I need a new perspective on things.
This past weekend was an excellent start to break. It started with a much needed massage. I stopped at my parents' house afterwards and they told me they were going to Amish country Saturday (the next day). I was like I have to go! So I did. We don't often get to go to Amish country so close to Christmas - sometimes there's snow- or there's just no time. The snow covered valleys were beautiful. It's always nice to step back and sit in simplicity for a while. I really needed that. Of course, we bought a bunch of stuff including some Coblentz chocolate which is amazing. Here is the website : Coblentz! Malley's or Faroh's has nothing on Coblentz!
After getting back from Amish country it was time to go to Joe's Praise the Purple Christmas Tree Party. We had a fund game of Apples to Apples and received some awesome white elephant gifts! So nice to hang out with intelligent and funny people. Sunday was a relaxing day. I had brunch with Christopher at Dianna's in Lakewood and then I headed home. I took a much needed nap that afternoon. It was glorious and was especially nice because Artemis joined me too!
So now, I need to finish Christmas shopping. This is the latest I've ever shopped. I'm gonna wake up early so I can hit the stores while everyone is at work. : ) I'll write some more later this week.

Snow Day and a Book Review!
Today was a snow day! I didn't think I would have one this early in the school year! So I watched some movies, worked out, and organized some stuff. So it was a very productive day.
I finished Eat Pray Love two weeks ago. I've been meaning to post a review, but I just haven't had the opportunity until now.
Let me just say that this book is a must read for anyone searching for more in life. Not the typical get married and have babies story, THANK GOD! Some people are happy with just getting married and having babies, great for them. Some people are looking for something different, much like Elizabeth Gilbert the author of this amazing book. There's a lot of spirituality in this book. I love Gilbert's view of spirituality. No one religion is the answer according to Gilbert. I truly love that concept. The book is divided into the three I's. Italy, India, and Indonesia. After her divorce she decides she's going to travel for a year. She starts in Italy, which brought up my memories of Italy. The Italy portion of her book was probably my least favorite. Don't get me wrong, it was a good way to get the book started, but having been to Italy my view is a bit different. It was nice to revisit Italy through Gilbert's eyes. Florence and Rome is where I need to spend a month soon!
Next was India. I'm not too keen on actually visiting India (heat, sickness, etc.), but Gilbert spends her time in the ashram of her guru. Spending time at an ashram makes India more fascinating and doable for me. Meditation is something I struggle with, but so does Gilbert. So reading about her struggles and how she overcame them really gives me hope that maybe one day I might be able to quiet my ever calculating mind!
Last was Indonesia, well Bali that is. Bali sounds beautiful and I'm not really fond of tropical places, but I think I might like to visit Bali sometime and see the medicine man she spent time with (if he's still alive).
Reading this book made me think about how important it is to keep life simple. I don't need to worry about every single thing going on in my life. It's so not worth it. Finding happiness is important, and it's not necessarily the paycheck you earn. Yet, Gilbert really doesn't have too many financial problems given her success. So one does have to keep that in mind. Most of us can't travel the way she does. I hope one day to be able to though. I definitely need to experience more of the world, and I hope to get an opportunity to do that soon. :)
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about the world and re-center themselves. A good read! I hope to read Eat Pray Love at least once a year.

December 9th Update
I know I haven't posted in a while. This week has just been rough. Lots of snow disrupted our normal schedule at home. So much to do and so little time. Waiting for holiday break has been crazy! It can't come soon enough! It's only a four day week for me because I took a scheduled day off for Friday. I needed it. I thought I could make it without a day off, but the kids are just wearing me down. The same old battles are just bothering me so I need to step back to come back with a fresh approach on Monday. Sometimes I don't think people realize that being a teacher is not a 9-5 job. Every day presents new challenges.
Plus this week, I think I was fighting a tiny cold from being around germy people over the weekend. Now, I'm much better. All I truly needed was a good night's sleep and some DayQuil. I love that since I eat healtheir and work out on a regular basis that I get sick a lot less. Now watch, I'll get super sick. LOL!
Mike and I went on an adventure Wednesday evening during the snow storm. The snow storm was insane! We walked to the Subway that's up the street from us. It was so much fun! I don't like driving in the snow, but I love walking and running in it. We also got to watch the Cleveland Heights plow and salt trucks come down Mayfield road. There was a long train of them and the leader truck honked the horn a bazillion times and had everyone make a huge u-turn on Mayfield. Kinda crazy watching that and being careful to not get pelted by snow.
This week I was also able to get my Christmas cards done and mailed! I think this is the earliest I have ever done that. Now, I just need to finish Christmas shopping! UGH!

10 Year High School Reunion
So here is the anxiously awaited high school reunion blog.
Diane really wanted to go to the reunion, so I was like why not? We will get some good laughs about it! As soon as we walked into the lame bar called Jocko's we got glares. For what reason, I do not know. We laughed and we got to talk to some great people like Ricky and Andrea! John was there too! It's sad how some people never change though. Some people were trying to get pics of us and I caught them and we flipped them off! I'm proud to say that I actually have friends that I did not go to high school with, LOL! The major benefit of me going was winning a $20 Target gift card! Will I go to a 15 year reunion? Probably not!
The drawings for the gift cards were a great idea, but other than that it was a prettly lame party. I'm a way better party planner! So here are the pics:

Happy December!
A new month of blogging!! :)
Today was a smooth day at school. Yesterday was not and that's all I'll say about that. I'm just getting really annoyed with school lately. The laziness of the students is getting on my last nerve this week. I have such a passion for learning and I have rough time dealing with people who don't share that same passion. :(
I'm still plugging along though and they will learn, DAMMIT!
We've doing commercials in my Speech class. The topics have ranged from condoms to Mr. T. advertising an XBOX 360. I laughed a lot. My 9th grade repeaters have been the laziest, but should I be surprised when they were too lazy to pass the 9th grade? NO! These are just some of my daily frustrations, but I will get past them like I always do.
I promised more pics in my blog so I'm including a picture of our Christmas tree this year!
We went with blue led lights this year and last year we had red lights. Happy December!

An Entire Month of Blogging!
Wow! I actually blogged for an entire month every single day! Yes, some entries were short, but the fact that I did that is awesome! I'm quite proud. So the question is, do I continue this trend or not? I think I'm definitely going to continue the trend!
A full 30 days (31 entries) of blogging - I still can't believe it! My next challenge wtih blogging is that I want to include more pics and videos. So that will be my next focus!
Happy end of November!

2 More Mondays
So there are officially two more Mondays until Christmas break! Yay! There weren't a lot of kids in school today, I'll take it. It was an easy going day. Tomorrow will probably be hell, LOL!
Today was Mike's first day shift. It was wonderful to come home to someone. Artemis was a bit loopy with the changes, but he's adjusting. He actually got up on the stove today while it was on! Luckily, Mike got him off the stove in time before he hurt himself. Crazy cat! It was a busy and productive evening.
I'll make it short tonight, but I will hopefully have a bigger update tomorrow!

Early Blogging
I figured I would blog early tonight. I want to get a good start to the week. Mike will be working days now instead of nights so the household will be shifting quite a bit this week. Artemis will be completely confused and crazy for a few days. Mike needs to adjust his sleep schedule to wake up at 4:30am. It will be an interesting week to say the least. I'm hoping to get progress report grades done this week so I don't have to do them this upcoming weekend.
I will write more about my class reunion in the next couple of days. What a fun time! LOL!

Staying Young!
Today was a simple kind of day. I've been sleeping in the past few days. Artemis makes me because he falls asleep on my legs and won't let me move, LOL!
Last night we decorated the tree and it looks like we won't do the Victorian villages until next weekend. Today we went out to Mike's parents house and got lunch/dinner with them. Now I'm heading to my 10 year high school reunion. Do I really want to go? Not really, but I'll stop by and see how it goes. Everyone keeps saying that they feel old since they are going to a high school reunion, but I don't. Maybe it's because I work in a high school and I just don't feel old. I think because I work at a high school I stay younger because I know what the latest trends are and sometimes the kids teach me stuff that I wasn't familiar with.
No, I don't feel old! I think it's important to stay young at heart in body and soul!

Black Friday=Productive Friday
After working in retail for almost 10 years, let's just say that I'm not anxious to get out and shop on Black Friday. I feel for the people who had to work today. I've worked plenty of Black Fridays. I remember my first one at Ames when I was 17 years old. I woke up late and luckily I lived just five minutes away. I got there right at 6am and rang register for at least 6 hours before I even got a break. Christopher, a former Ames employee, came to visit me that day while I rang register endlessly. Parents fought over stupid toys for their kids and treated me rudely when something didn't ring up correctly. It truly made me hate Black Friday for years to come. At least at Ames it was busy so the time went fast. When I started working at Officemax it was stupid. It was busy, but there were always technical problems that froze the registers or rebate slips wouldn't print out. What a waste of time! I always felt bad for the recipients of the gifts some people would buy at Officemax. Black Friday at Omax got lamer and lamer each year. The one year was fun because Nicole and I worked a split shift and in between our shifts we went and got Denny's with the other cool people who worked there like Mike Pasela, Matt Hartzell, and Matt Hlavacek. It was a fun time! The only other holiday I enjoyed working was Thanksgiving at Ames. That was fun! I got time and a half and one of the sweet "moms" at Ames would make the managers a Turkey dinner so they could have something good to eat. I always volunteered to work Thanksgiving.
So when I go out on Black Friday or if I go out on Black Friday I make sure to be extra kind to those working. Remember, they have probably been driven crazy!
Today was a busy work day around the house. My shredder was pretty tired after I shredded tons of old paperwork and organized some things around the house. We ended the day by decorating the Christmas tree. Tomorrow is time to put the Victorian Village up!

Thanksgiving
I have a lot to be thankful for! Mike and I went to my parents' house for Thanksgiving and of course we had a blast. My mom cooked an amazing meal. You never know what's going to happen when we all get together. My mom was also dogsitting for my neighbor. So Mike and I went over and took Ralphie for a walk in the rain . He's a fun dog.
Of course, our dog Cheyenne was jealous that we hung out with Ralphie. She decided to lay on Mike and make him pet her. It was really funny! I also finally saw the Man vs. Food episode at Melt.
Then it was time to come home and get some work done, like blogging, LOL!
I leave you with my thankful list:
My Family
Mike
My Friends
Music
My Education
My Talents
My Job
My House
and the list could go on and on.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! :)

The Epica Show
So since I cut it short last night, I figured I would take the time to update.
The Epica show was wonderful yesterday! I wasn't sure to expect so I didn't get my hopes up. We were waiting to get in and I see Mark (grunter, guitarist, and a creator of EPICA and AFTER FOREVER) coming towards me. I say, "Hi Mark!". I'm not expecting for him to remember me, but he smiles gives me a hug and a customary European kiss on each of my cheeks. I couldn't believe it! I was so excited after that! Mike just laughed at me because I was like, "I'm a VIP!" No one else got a greeting like that, LOL! Thankfully, my name was on the guest list like it was supposed to be, so getting in was no problem!! I was able to get right to the front of the stage and we were stage right. Then came the wait for Epica. We stood through four opening bands. Each very different.
The Last Alliance: A local band that really needed a makeover. They couldn't headbang at all. A decent sound, but looking at them was not inviting.
The Agonist: An awful female fronted metal band from Montreal. The girl's outfit looked like she was a referee and a kitty. She screeched and tried to sing melodically from time to time. Every song was super fast and was boring. I was quite relieved when it was over.
Blackguard: We've seen them at least 5 or 6 times. They are a fun band, but their lead singer stunk like ass. I know this because he was in front of me quite a bit and I could smell how he probably hasn't taken a shower in days. Generally, I enjoy this band, but not tonight.
Scar Symmetry: This band was interesting. They weren't totally offensive. Their guitarist who was an angry bald man with a long beard was mad that his monitor was not working and it was too loud. His accent was cute and he was wearing Nike velcros. Sorry, I have a difficult time taking you seriously when you are rocking out wearing velcros. LOL! Their bassist seemed to think that Mike was a distant relative, LOL! The bassist kept coming over to Mike and smiling! I was thankful when the band was done, though!
Epica: Well, I've seen Epica at least 4 times. This show didn't give me goosebumps. Simone was a bit off with her singing. It was a good show because they did a good mix of their old songs (my favorite) and a decent mix of new songs. Mark was fun and he is my favorite grunter as always They really treated Cleveland well. I do have to say that the new Epica fans do not impress me. They cover themselves in the band's merchandise and that's about it. There were a lot of underagers too. Plus, now there are families coming to these shows. Sorry, but I really don't want to see 5 to 10 year olds at these shows when their parents drag them there. In the past we've seen a couple who comes up from West Virginia for shows. They have a three year old little girl, who really likes the music. She've giving the horns and she stays awake through the shows. She's quite impressive! It also puts the band into a difficult position when they are saying, "Let's get fucking wasted!", etc. etc. So PLEASE KEEP YOUR KIDS AT HOME!
Overall, the show was very fun. Mark actually came out after the show and talked to more fans. Of course, I had to interrupt him (because I'm a VIP) by saying good bye and I got a few more kisses. ;)
It was a great way to start Thanksgiving! I leave you with a pic of Mark!

So the Epica show was tonight. It was super fun! I will write more about it later. It's time for bed, but I didn't want to forget to blog! Happy Thanksgiving everyone! :)

Last Day Before Break!
Today seemed to just drag on and on. It was so annoying. I got to read a lot of Eat Pray Love, which by the way, I'm absolutely loving! I'm in the last section of the book when Liz is in Indonesia.
I was excited to get home. I had a few errands to run and then it was time to be home for the evening. Mike went to Melt this morning with a work buddy so I made sure that he got me a sandwich too! I love Melt's Chorizo and Potato sandwich. So yummy! I was also able to clean the living room and vacuum the stairs. A very productive evening despite my moving watching!
I haven't watched any British Masterpiece Theatre movies in a while. So I chose to watch The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte. The last time I saw this movie was in high school. Wow, how I've changed. I still loved the movie though. Masterpiece Theatre was my Sunday night guilty pleasure. So I think I will be watching some more on Thanksgiving Break!
The Epica show is tomorrow and I'm excited, but not too excited. The last few times they have came their new fans are annoying and do not understand the old songs, which are the best in my opinion. Plus, they keep touring with some of the same openers and it's boring to see the same openers all the time. So I'm just going to enjoy my free ticket and have as much fun as I can.

Monday night fog/blog?
I should say Sunday night fog. I had a good time at the Incantation show last night at Peabody's. When we got to Peabody's the power was out. Within a half hour the power was back on. The show went on. I was lucky because one of the bartenders hooked me up with some cheap, yummy drinks. If I only didn't have to work today, LOL! I made it through like a trooper. The show was good and Kyle from Incantation no longer has a mustache and now I'm sad that the AC song that is "Kyle from Incantation has a mustache" has lost it's meaning. I wanted to get a picture with him and me pointing at his mustache. :( Oh well!
My students were crazy today. They need a break and so do I! I got chased today by two boys trying to give me hugs. I was scared!! LOL! Hopefully tomorrow will go smoothly! YAY!

Something Sunday
It was an interesting Sunday. I have some thoughts that I need to keep to myself for a while.
Mike and I are going to the Incantation show tonight at Peabody's. I will probably be super tired tomorrow at work. Thank God for a two day work week. I'm hoping my students behave these next two days and the days themselves go smoothly.
I'm working on taking down the Halloween inside decorations down with Mike. So next weekend we can get all the Christmas decorations up. Fun stuff! I'm looking forward to having 5 days off with Mike. I love that we don't run around on holidays to a bunch of relatives' houses anymore. We generally pick one and that's it.
Happy Sunday and I hope everyone has a short work week too!

Saturday Night Blog
Today was awesome because I had nothing I absolutely had to do!! I slept in until 10am. I haven't done that in a while!! Then Mike and I worked outside in the yard. All the Halloween oustide decorations are down. I will do the inside decorations tomorrow. Mike met a sweet kitten hanging out in the neighborhood that let us pet him and the kitten played on our front porch. He was adorable! He kept chasing leaves when the wind would blow them! So cute!
We stopped to visit Mike's grandma since we won't see her on Thanksgiving. Then it was off to Target to buy some cleaning supplies I was out of. (I know so exciting!) We had a late lunch and then came home and go to work. The bathroom is clean and Artemis decided to help me clean by getting the way constantly! Then it was time for the kitchen floor, which Artemis assisted me again with!
That was my Saturday. Now it's time to wind down, have a drink, and watch something on Netflix with Mike.

Friday before Thanksgiving Break and I won a contest!
School was good today. Everyone seemed to be in a light hearted mood since it was Friday and we only have 2 days next week! My students make me laugh a lot!
One of my students was asking me what wine I drink. I asked her why do you think I drink wine, and she's like that's what white people drink. I laughed. Then she wanted to know what I thought she drank. I told her For Loco (sp?) I told her she drinks like four at a time! All her friends started laughing. She couldn't believe I knew about that drink! I got her good! I explained how I had a student of mine (last year) who drank that stuff and was just perpetually drunk or high.
The exciting part of the day was winning a guest list spot for the Epica show this upcoming Wednesday! I was debating about going and I entered a contest for a free ticket! Money is tight and it's not a cheap show. Well, I actually won!!!!!
I never win contests! I'm so happy I won! Plus, I deserved that ticket. I've been following Epcia for a long time and when the band is in Cleveland, they know who I am! LOL! So I'm thrilled to be going, it's a good way to bring in Thanksgiving!!! :)
TGIF!

Thoughful Thursday
Today was uneventful at work, but hard work nonetheless!
I finished the Italy portion of Eat Pray Love during my lunch time. This portion of the book made me think of when I went to Italy. Life was a lot different then . Trust me, I love my life now. It was just fun to think of what things were like when I went to Italy. I hope to go back to Italy some day. I would love to spend a week in Florence (Firenze). Florence was my favorite city that I visited. I really need to travel again. Hopefully in another year or so we can save up some money and take a proper vacation.
Reading on my lunch break is really nice and I hope to continue that practice!
After work I decided that the lawn needed some raking. The city picks up leaves on Fridays. So I made a decent sized pile of leaves with the help of the wheelbarrow. I also swept the front and back porches. The porches will definitely need painting next summer. Our front porch steps are going to start rotting and a post on the back porch is already rotten. The joys of having an old house!
For dinner I made some packaged potato soup. I doctored it to make it a bit better with some turkey bacon bits and cheddar cheese. So good!!
I'm hoping to make it an early night. I can't believe Thanksgiving is a week away.

4:30am
This morning at 4:30 am a huge gust of wind woke me up out of a dead sleep. It felt like the wind gust went right through my house. The gust gave me an eerie feeling. I was hoping and praying that the power would go out at school. Alas, I was not granted that reprieve.
School was busy even though there was professional development this afternoon. The professional development was extremely boring. I am very open minded and I'm willing to listen to what presenters have to say. I did not learn anything today. At least I had a book with me to help kill time. My school district treats teachers like we are not worth anything. Granted, there are a lot of stupid teachers out there. It's just frustrating when administration wants us to work miracles, but offer no help. I feel like I'm constantly being dumped on by the school. We need to do everything! It's overwhelming and I just take it one day at a time. It's all I can do. I know I do an awesome job with my students. They respect me and I respect them and I know I'm making an impact on their lives. A student wrote an essay about Beowolf and Me! LOL!
She said I'm a hero because I have a loud voice and I'm always bugging kids to do what they are supposed ot be doing! It made me laugh so hard. This student and I are always arguing about something and I was surprised that she would write about me. That's the thing about teaching though, you never know who you impact as a teacher. It's just difficult being in a profession that is constantly degraded and not valued. Education has a lot of problems, but I'm sick of teachers being the source of the blame. Ok, I will get off my soapbox now!
My reading progress for Eat Pray Love is going well. I'm on page seventy something. I really like the book and I've been reading on my lunch breaks.
I'm so ready for Thanksgiving break, but I'm pushing my students until the end.
Yay for tomorrow being Thursday!

Tuesday's Post
I had no Internet at home last night, so I had to miss yesterday's blog. So there will be two blogs today!
Yesterday evening I had a great dinner with my friend Diane. We went to Brio's at Legacy Village. I haven't had Italian food in a while, and Brio's hit the spot. Plus, they had an affordable happy hour. It was good to catch up and laugh about a lot of things with a good friend.
So that was my Tuesday! I was sad with no Internet. :(

Manic Monday
So today was a busy day right from the beginning. As soon as I signed in at work, my principal had data for me to look over. My students were good today though. It was a pretty smooth day and I hope the rest of the week follows suit.
I'm slowly reading Eat Pray Love, I'm on pg. 37 right now. It's just been a busy day with paying bills and running around doing errands after school. So I will catch up on reading soon!
Tomorrow I get to have dinner with an awesome friend so I'm definitely looking forward to that.
I took a Facebook quiz about what age I will have my first child. It said 37, LOL! I hope never, LOL!
I know I'm a weirdo, but I'm not dying to have any children. Remember, I'm a teacher and I deal with kids all day! I don't want to come home to any. I'll take my cute black kitty any day! :)

Simple Sunday
Another lovely day with nothing pressing to do. I'm not sure I could get used to this. I'll take it while I can.
This upcoming week is the week before Thanksgiving break! I cannot wait!! I've had a countdown on my board for a while at school. My students will be hyper so I have to keep them busy!
I went over to my parents' house and bugged Matthias for like an hour. That's always fun! Then I stopped to see my dad at Officemax and chat with him. I came home and Mike and I got lunch. I did some lesson planning (the joys of being a teacher) and read the Sunday newspaper. Now it's time to get lunches ready for the week. Artemis is yelling for me to feed him yet again! Mike is busily writing for NanoWrimo. We're such a busy little family.
I hope everyone had a Simple Sunday!

A Simple Saturday!
Wow! What a nice day! I started by getting up early to go get my brows waxed. I was sick of my overgrown eyebrows, so I treated myself to that. What a treat I know, to get your eyebrows waxed!
Then Jason came over and we all went to Melt. I had the Chorizo and Potato sandwich! It was wonderful of course. After Jason left Mike and I had some yard work to do. The day was so beautiful that we wanted to spend some of it outside. We cleaned up some dead tree branches and raked a bit. Mike dug up some stones that were buried in the garden. Then we threw the pumpkins in from the front yard in the garden to compost. I also emptied out my potted plants from the summer into the garden. I took down some Halloween decorations from the front yard. Do not fear though, the Halloween tree is still up! We'll probably change it over to a Christmas tree during Thanksgiving weekend.
After a few hours outside it was time to come in and shower. Then came the dreaded paying of the bills. :( That's all I'll say about that. I'm thankful that I have free tickets to tonight's show.
We watched a few episodes of The Office on Netflix.
Something I haven't done in a while is play Mario Kart. So Mike and I sat down and played an hour's worth of Mario Kart. I missed that game!
Well, now it's time to get ready to go to the show!! Enjoy your Saturday night, everyone!

Yay Friday!!
I survived a full week of school plus parent teacher conferences! Go me!! It was a busy week, but I managed to do a lot of good things.
Funny moment of the day at school: Some of my senior boys enjoy picking on each other a lot. It gets so bad that they like to use wrestling moves on each other. To an outsider it looks like they are fighting, but they are just playing. Well, I needed to leave the room to make some copies really quick. I knew I couldn't leave some of my senior boys alone. So I took one of them with me. I thought an argument would start when I told him he had to come with me, but he agreed to go with me no problem. Walking around with him as I did my errands was funny and I felt like I was his mom. LOL! The joys of being a high school teacher!
This weekend I'm going to MELT with a good friend, and going to another good friend's metal show at Peabody's. I'm looking forward to a slow kind of weekend!
I'm hoping to get some reading done now that I don't have a graduate class at the moment. In January that will be another story, so I have to get my reading for pleasure done in the next few weeks to hold me over until March. I love to read. When the Borders by my house was going out of business I bought a bunch of books because they were on sale! So I'm looking forward to digging into them. The first book I'm reading is Eat Pray Love. I'm not reading it because I love Julia Roberts. I really can't stand her! The idea behind the book interests me. Expect a book review from me in a week or so. I read super fast!! :)
I hope everyone has a good weekend! Do something fun!

Bath Bomb Thursday
Today was a long day at work. While most people were off for Veteran's Day, I got to be at work for an extra three hours for parent teacher conferences! I had a total of 5 parents show up today. Those three hours were really worth my time! The day itself was crazy. The bureaucracy of this district just makes me nuts sometimes!
I came home to a crazy black kitty who wanted to know where his mommy was for so long. He ran around the house a million times and tried to break stuff. It was fun!
So I decided to take a long bath with one of my many LUSH bath bombs, Mike bought for me for my birthday. It was glorious! I used the blackberry bomb and it smelled so good! It was truly a nice way to end my day!
Well, I'm beat so that's it for today!

Winding down Wednesday
Today was a nice calm day. I hope the rest of the week stays that way. I have found myself with extra time this week, and it's been wonderful! Have I done much with it? No, not really. It feels nice though.
This weekend will be the first low key weekend I've had in while.
Last Saturday's video shoot was a blast. As I look forward to the future, I would love to do more with making videos. One of my dreams has always been to become a screenwriter. I would love to write for a sitcom too. Saturday was fun because the creative ideas just kept coming and coming. We actually had to start limiting the ideas because the song we were doing the video for is about 2 minutes long! I'm excited to see the footage and then of course the final product!!
Tomorow I have parent teacher conferences from 3 to 6. It's going to be a long day and I hope it goes quick and smoothly!
I'm gonna go now, I have a cute black kitty sleeping on my lap.

Terrific Tuesday!
So today was way better than yesterday. My students were really good today, which means they could be horrible tomorrow. I will take what I can get! My grad class ended last week, so I'm enjoying some time off. Today was also a day to get some errands done.
I've been procrastinating about getting new tires for my Escape. So after school I literally ran out the door so I could get out to Parma to get my new tires from Kurak's. It's a cheap place and they are pretty old school. No register and no computer there. There's just a bunch of old dudes and young dudes working. Then I went home. It's nice being an east sider because I go the opposite way of rush hour traffic! I stopped at ghetto Dave's Supermarket at Severance before heading home. I don't care for the place, but Giant Eagle is expensive and I refused to shop at the South Euclid Giant Eagle. Plus, I didn't feel like driving any farther. When I do shop at Giant Eagle, I shop at the Legacy Village one, thanks for the tip Kathy!
Well, that's about it! Exciting, huh??
I'm just proud that I've been blogging every day!!

Moronic Monday!
My students irritated the hell out of me today! They were just so whiny and my seniors think they know everything. Plus, the fire alarm kept going off! So annoying! My last period class was the best behaved class today. I couldn't believe it. So at least I ended on a good note.
I'm hoping Tuesday is nicer. I'm already tired and ready for bed. So I'm going to make today's blog short. Sleepy time awaits!! Here's to a terrific Tuesday!

And on the 7th day she blogged!
I leave you with two pictures today! You know how I said my goal today was to make apple pie! Well, I made it! It's cooking in the oven right now and smells very good. What's great about this pie is that there are no artificial sweeteners in it!! Yay! So it's not tooooooo bad for you!
Today was a nice day of just catching up on some work and relaxing after yesterday. It was hard to believe there were so many people in my house yesterday and all the fun stuff we accomplished! I'm looking forward to a few low key kind of weekends. Money is tight so it will be nice to just be at home.
It's hard to believe that I've been blogging for 7 days!
Here are a few pictures from my weekend!
Today was a nice day of just catching up on some work and relaxing after yesterday. It was hard to believe there were so many people in my house yesterday and all the fun stuff we accomplished! I'm looking forward to a few low key kind of weekends. Money is tight so it will be nice to just be at home.

The PHK Video Shoot!
Wow! What a day for a music video shoot! Cold, rainy, and snowy! I got to wake up at 8am on a Saturday to wait for everyone to arrive. Lakeview Cemetery was very fun in the snow and the shots of Bigfoot running in the woods are priceless! Our "revival" scene was awesome and I'm sure it looked weird to the cars that were passing by.
I am so happy to be friends with such creative people! Joe, DJ, Robin, Andrea, Mike, Jimmy, Spizzy, Jason, Justin, and of course our Bigfoot Ed! They were so awesome! My Mike was the creator of the universe! He created a lovely universe in our basement! Everything came together beautifully! There were a lot of laughs and I can't wait to watch all the footage! We have plenty for the blooper reel. After everyone left I got to give my house a much needed cleaning and Mike had to shovel the driveway because of all the snow!
I thought I would include a pic of my piano covered in the props for the video. It's quite funny and it seems weird not to have them there anymore. The fake limbs were so helpful today and so much fun to play with!

TGIF
Even though it was a short week for me, these past three days with my students have been trying.
My last period class did well today, even with the king of the troublemakers in it! We had fun and the kid made me laugh a lot!
Tomorrow is the PHK music video shoot. It's snowing and pretty cold. I'm starting to notice a pattern for these videos. The last one we shot in July was probably the hottest day of the year. We were all sweating horribly. Now we are filming on the first snow of the year. The video shoot should be a blast. You never know what's going to happen with all the creative people we'll be working with tomorrow Hopefully tomorrow, I won't be so exhausted that I can put up some pics from the video shoot! There definitely should be some interesting ones!! I really missed doing videos and I'm glad I have some amazing friends like Joe, DJ, Andrea, and Robin who like to do videos too! I'll never forget our first movie "Highbury Life".
I'm also hoping to make homemade apple pie for the first time this weekend. I'm generally pretty busy so I don't have a lot of time to try new recipes and just do stuff for fun. After this weekend I should have some more time to do that before school starts again in January. We have some really cool professors. Last Tuesday, my professor bought all of us MELT! We are doing our final projects next semester and I have some big decisions to make in regards to that.haven't read the syllabi yet so I need to go to the Spitfire one afternoon and read it over. School work is always better at the Spitfire for some reason. I remember cramming for the Praxis III there with my friend Tracy who helped me out so much! Then in the summer I have my last two classes! I can't wait! I plan on going to the graduation ceremony in Bowling Green in August. I want my hood! I I'm just happy to be more than halfway through my master's program!! Go me!!!
Happy Friday everyone!

Thankful Thursday
Thankfully, this week has flown by. This will be my last busy weekend for a while. I can't wait!! Since early October I've had so much to do every week and weekend. It's going to be nice to relax for a little bit.
I'm working on the script for the Powerhead Kids video. School today was pretty low key. So I'm extremely thankful for that!
My students are working on writing a perfect paragraph. One student's paragraph really struck me. She wrote about how she found out she was pregnant when she was already 26 weeks along. She could totally be on the show "I didn't know I was pregnant". She was hoping for an abortion, but it was too late. She explained how she cried for weeks, then her sister finally told her that she should be excited to have a child. The girl finally stopped crying and she had a baby girl this past June. She described how much she loves her baby and how her life is so different. Sadly, this is not the first story I have heard like this. One of my former students just had a baby this week. I remember when I knew she was pregnant before she would even deal with it. It's sad to think of children raising children. Every day this happens. Geez, I know some people in my life who should not have children at all. They are too immature, expect too much from their spouses, and are so obsessed with controlling their child they lose sight of themselves and damage their child in the process. So sad.
I'm always astounded how some of my students overcome so many disadvantages in life. It reminds me how life is so crazy and you never know where it is going to take you.
Today has been a good day and I hope it spills over to Friday.

A bible, koran, and a Ms. Piggy tambourine
What do these things all have in common? Well, they will be used in The Powerhead Kids video happening this Saturday. Well, I have a lot to do yet in prep for the video. I hope I can get that done in the next few days while going to work with all the stuff I have to do there. My students are driving me crazy! So I went on a parent calling spree. It was good and I feel better. The highlight at work today was getting an e-mail from my principal saying that she was thrilled that I had 100% of my grades put in the system. It's nice to know every once and a while that I'm doing something right.
The props for the video are piling up in my living room. It's pretty funny! I should take a pic of my living room and post it here tomorrow.
Today was jam packed so I'm hoping tomorrow I have a less busy day. Oh well, time to relax!
Artemis is ready for mommy to calm down or he's going to have a tantrum.

Election Day Post
So I made it through another day to make another post. Today was a nice day off. It started off by exercising my right to vote. Mike and I went to vote as soon as we woke up. Then we stopped for burritos afterwards.
Next, Joe and I went to go and scout locations for The Powerhead Kids video that is going to be shot this Saturday! So we went to Lakeview cemetery and visited the Garfield monument, Wade Chapel, and wandered around the crypts too. We saw a wonderful view from the top of the Garfield monument. I have video of it that I will upload in a few days. It was fun hanging with Joe and coming up with cool ideas! The Powerhead Kids and I are lucky to have awesome friends like Joe to do these videos for the band.
Then it was time to go home and finish writing ideas for the video. This evening was my last graduate class until January. We got to present our papers and I just winged it! I'm a good public speaker so no worries.
It's a relief to not have class until January. January will be crazy though we start our final projects so it will be crazy!
I'm excited for the video shoot on Saturday! Joe and DJ have gotten some awesome props and I can't wait to see how the video turns out! Stay tuned for more details.
See ya all tomorrow!!

First blog using blogger...
So, I've decided to use a different blogging site. I have used livejournal for years, but I refuse to have a paid account. Because I don't have a paid account I'm limited with what I can share. Things are a little bare here, but I just wanted to get started. I know November is Nanowrimo month. I don't have time to write a novel. I wish I did. Anyway, I've decided I wanted to start a new blog that I could share things that go on in my life. My goal is to get on here once a day and actually make one post a day. Hopefully, I'm up for the challenge. Anyway, I hope you enjoy what I have to write.
